We are delighted that your child will be joining us here at Backwell School in September 2025.
This webpage contains lots of important information about your child’s transition to school, which we hope will be a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Induction Day - Tuesday 01 July 2025
As part of our transition programme for students joining Year 7 at Backwell, we are holding our Induction Day on Tuesday 01 July 2025 9.00am-2.45pm. Children will take part in a range of taster activities and meet key members of staff.
Our Educational Support Department will run a further additional induction session for vulnerable students (as identified by their primary school). Those selected for this will be contacted directly by our Education Support Team.

New Year 7 parents are invited to an Induction Information Evening from 6.00pm on Wednesday 02 July 2025.

Second-hand uniform sale
The Backwell School Association (BSA) will be holding a second-hand uniform sale on Wednesday, 02 July 4.00-5.45pm. This will take place in our Sixth Form Theatre, prior to the induction session for parents (detailed above). Items are £5 each and cash or card payments can be accepted; all proceeds will go to the BSA, which is the PTA charity raising money for Backwell School. Please make sure you leave plenty of time to attend so you do not miss the induction presentation. Items are first come, first served, and we suggest measuring your child in advance so you know what size they will need.
Explore 2025
Shine (Sports Coaching) will be holding two days of activities here on the school site during the summer holidays (24 & 25 July 2025). These activities will be exclusively for those joining us in Year 7 in September 2025. The children will be encouraged to try new activities, make new friends and increase their confidence before joining us in September. Please note - this is not an additional induction course.
Information regarding booking and the cost of these days will be sent out in due course.
