Enrichment Week
During the Summer Term, the normal school timetable is suspended for a week while students take part in trips and activities tailored to their year group.
Enrichment Week is an important aspect of Backwell School life, giving students the opportunity to enjoy new experiences, learn different skills and build strong bonds with their peers.
Enrichment Week 2025 falls during the week of Monday 23 June – Friday 27 June.
Years 7, 8, and 9 will partake in a range of tailor-made trips and activities to take them out of their comfort zone and provide a great opportunity to enhance their learning outside the classroom.
This is a school week and attendance is required. Therefore, the expectation is that all students will take part.
Year 7 will take part in a mix of day trips and onsite activities.
Year 8 will take part in a mix of day trips and onsite activities.
Year 9 will take part in a 4-night residential trip to Cornwall with activities in stunning locations.
Year 10 will partake in Work Experience.
Year 12 will engage in Future Plan activities.
Year 11 and Year 13 will have finished and left school by this date.
Financial Assistance for School Activities
We recognise that some families will find it difficult to fund the costs of school activities or resources, so we allocate an amount of funding to provide financial assistance to those families whose student/s qualify for Pupil Premium funding (ie they currently receive free school meals or have done so in the last six years) or who are eligible for Child Tax Credit or Universal Credit.
Applications for financial assistance must be made using the Financial Assistance form below once the costs associated with learning or school trips are known ,and must be accompanied by a letter from North Somerset Council confirming eligibility for free school meals.
